An international law firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support its high-profile M&A practice, with a particular focus on infrastructure M&A, private equity, and public M&A. Working closely with senior partners, legal counsel and practice leadership, the Business Development Manager will help shape and execute the strategic vision for the firm’s London M&A group. The role involves driving key client development initiatives, producing high-impact marketing materials, and supporting the growth of one of the firm’s most active transactional practices.
- Pitch & Proposal Development — Prepare tailored pitch materials, RFP responses, fee proposals, deal lists, brochures and other client-facing collateral, including drafting original content.
- Infrastructure M&A BD Support — Help lead cross-practice BD meetings, track actions, and support initiatives to grow the firm’s infrastructure M&A offering.
- Directory & Awards Management — Lead submissions for directories, surveys and awards, collaborating with partners and BD colleagues.
- Pipeline & CRM Management — Maintain accurate pipeline data, update marketing databases, and manage practice descriptions, website content, biographies, mailing lists and CRM records.
- Client Targeting & Research — Support partners with client targeting, market research, competitor analysis and strategic BD planning.
- Cross-Selling & Collaboration — Identify cross-practice opportunities and work with BD colleagues across global offices to support firmwide initiatives.
- League Tables & Experience Tracking — Manage league table submissions and improve processes for capturing and mining deal data.
- Events & Thought Leadership — Partner with events and BD teams to deliver high-quality events, sponsorships, speaking engagements and thought leadership campaigns.
A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ BD/marketing experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Strong familiarity with corporate/M&A markets and research tools such as Infralogic, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, Pitchbook, Preqin or Debtwire. Experience with InterAction, Concep, or equivalent CRM/email marketing platforms. Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights. A track record of supporting senior partners and managing multiple high-stakes projects with shifting priorities. Commercial awareness, sound judgment and the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business. Direct access to market-leading M&A partners and high-value transactional work.
