Carter Lauren Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Health & Safety Manager to join our Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) team. This is a full‑time position based at our Cardiff office, with regular travel to project sites across the UK.
Reporting to the Senior Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational teams to deliver projects safely, compliantly and in accordance with best practice.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a central point of contact for health and safety matters across allocated projects.
- Prepare, review and maintain project‑specific RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and COSHH assessments, using company systems and libraries.
- Support project teams in meeting their duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews, providing clear and practical advice.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, producing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Support Contract and Site Managers to ensure effective implementation of safe systems of work.
- Liaise with client representatives, Principal Designers, and other stakeholders on H&S matters.
- Identify health, safety and environmental training requirements.
- Support the tracking and monitoring of competence across the workforce.
- Actively promote a positive Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) culture by leading by example.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years construction industry experience, preferably in a health and safety role.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to understand construction processes and technical drawings.
- Confident communicator, able to influence and engage at all levels.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
- IOSH Membership.
- NEBOSH Diploma or similar level 6 qualification.
- Construction‑related discipline /trade background or significant industry experience.
This role is ideal for someone who:
