BREEAM‑focused Environmental & Sustainability Co‑ordinator to join a leading UK construction company and support the delivery of high‑quality environmental, sustainability, and

ESG performance across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.

Based in Cardiff, this full‑time role will act as the central point of coordination for BREEAM delivery , construction environmental management, and contribution to ESG objectives.

Reporting to Senior Management, the successful candidate will work closely with project teams, designers, Clients, Assessors, and statutory bodies from

Design Stage through Post‑Construction .

Key Responsibilities

  • BREEAM Delivery & Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate

Main Contractor BREEAM delivery across projects from Design Stage through Construction and Post‑Construction.

  • Collate, manage, review, and submit high‑quality BREEAM evidence to BRE‑appointed Assessors.
  • Work closely with design teams and consultants to protect credits and support compliance with BREEAM requirements.
  • Track credits, responsibilities, and risks, maintaining auditable records and structured evidence files.
  • Undertake site inspections to verify delivery of BREEAM commitments and environmental best practice.
  • Construction Environmental Management
  • Support and coordinate construction environmental management , including:
  • Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Compliance with planning conditions and environmental permits
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant environmental legislation
  • Carry out site audits and inspections to ensure environmental controls are implemented effectively.
  • Liaise with Local Planning Authorities, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), Environment Agency (EA), SEPA, and BRE as required.
  • Support maintenance of the company’s

Environmental Management System , including audits and continuous improvement actions.

  • Sustainability & ESG Support
  • Support delivery of the company’s

Environmental and Sustainability Action Plan , including

  • Carbon reduction and offsetting initiatives
  • Waste reduction and resource efficiency
  • Sustainable materials and environmental best practice
  • Contribute to

ESG performance , supporting environmental data collection, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Assist with the development and tracking of environmental and ESG KPIs , reporting performance to Senior Management.
  • Promote consistent environmental and sustainability standards across projects and business units.
  • Training, Awareness & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide guidance and advice to project teams on BREEAM, environmental compliance, and sustainability requirements.
  • Identify environmental training and awareness needs and support competency tracking.
  • Maintain awareness of updates to BREEAM standards, environmental legislation, and industry best practice.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering

BREEAM projects from Design Stage through Post‑Construction .

  • Experience gained within a

Main Contractor, Sub‑Contractor, or Construction Consultancy environment.

  • Degree or equivalent in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or related discipline or a minimum of three years’ relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of construction environmental controls and site‑based delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and drawings.
  • Confident, collaborative communicator able to work across multiple stakeholders.
  • Training and development will be supported for the right candidate
  • IEMA membership (or working towards Practitioner).

BREEAM AP (Site and/or Design) accreditation.

  • Experience contributing to higher‑rating BREEAM schemes (Very Good / Excellent).
