We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our client accounting team based in Shrewsbury on a hybrid basis. The post holder will manage and co‑ordinate the accounts for a portfolio of clients as well as taking on some payroll work, one‑off projects and assisting others as appropriate. The Client Accounting team in Shrewsbury is a mix of professional and non‑professional accountants, covering client reporting, AP, AR, bank reconciliation, and system data management supporting the Rural, Residential and Living Sector business lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing day‑to‑day operations of clients’ financial transactions ensuring all movements comply with industry regulations
  • Performing regular and robust reconciliations of client ledgers and bank accounts
  • Raising ad hoc charges and invoices as required
  • Allocating cash received from tenants
  • Reconciling receipts against the charges raised
  • Undertaking credit control and reporting on debtors
  • Recording and processing invoices from suppliers and managing the client funds for the weekly payment cycle
  • Producing income and expenditure reports from TRAMPS and assisting with interpreting and using these
  • Preparing and managing shared inboxes

What will it take to be successful?

This role will require someone who is experienced in bookkeeping roles and whilst an AAT qualification would be preferred, we will consider applicants with tried and tested experience rather than a formal qualification. The successful applicant will need to be computer literate, with good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in payroll is a plus, but not essential as we are committed to training the right candidate who demonstrates strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude. A background in a property management or agricultural business would be helpful though not essential as on‑the‑job training on these aspects can be provided.

We offer a highly competitive rewards package including group pension, flexible benefits, referral schemes, and generous annual leave. As an equal opportunity employer, we are dedicated to driving diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We have an agile flexible working policy; many of our team work flexibly and we would be happy to discuss how this could work for you.
