The Team You'll Work With
You’ll be joining Carta Law's UK Contracts team as a subject-matter expert in pre-M&A contract law. Carta Law is the largest AI-native law firm for private capital, born from the combination of Avantia Law and Carta. Our lawyers and paralegals work alongside embedded AI agents to deliver investor onboarding, transaction KYC, and high-volume legal work with a speed and consistency traditional firms can't match.

- Lead the negotiation of high-value, complex pre-M&A contracts and multi-party agreements across the client portfolio.
- Own and independently manage key client relationships with sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients.
- Manage external counsel instructions and supervision across relevant matters.
- Drive continuous improvement of Carta's legal technology suite, including Carta Ava — identifying, piloting, and embedding new capabilities.
- Mentor and develop E4 Contract Lawyers and senior paralegals, reviewing their work and providing structured feedback.
- Own and evolve the firm-wide standard clause library and cross-client playbook framework.

- Senior practitioner. You're licensed to practise law in the UK, Europe, US, or Canada, with 5+ PQE.
- Complex negotiator. You have a track record independently leading complex pre-M&A negotiations, including cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Trusted advisor. You build and sustain trusted advisor status with sophisticated financial services clients and lead senior stakeholder engagement.
- Tech innovator. You're an expert user of Carta Ava, HighQ, and CLM/e-signature platforms, and you drive AI/legal tech adoption across the team.
- Mentor and leader. You develop junior team members with structured feedback and contribute to team strategy and resourcing.
- Commercially sharp. You align legal advice with business objectives and manage external counsel spend effectively.
