We're building something worth staying for and we need someone to help us find great people and grow the ones we already have. CarSupermarket.com is a 500 person automotive business covering procurement, vehicle refurbishment, and sales. We're growing, we're ambitious, and we're investing seriously in our people. This role sits at the heart of that.
The role is split across two things that genuinely matter:
- Finding great people
- Running end-to-end recruitment from brief to offer with pace, quality, and care
- Headhunting directly and building talent pipelines so we're never starting from scratch
- Reducing our reliance on agencies by building real capability internally
- Making sure every candidate hired or not has a great experience
- Growing the people we have
- Mapping internal talent and identifying who's ready to grow, and into what
- Building succession plans for roles that matter — so we're never exposed
- Creating career pathways that give people a reason to stay and a route to progress
- Supporting learning and development activity that's targeted, not just ticked off
This isn't a process admin role. You'll be partnering with managers across the business, having honest conversations about capability and potential, and building something that makes a real difference to how we attract and keep good people.
You'd be a good fit if:
- You've run end to end recruitment and you're proud of how you do it
- You think about internal talent as seriously as external hiring
- You're comfortable having direct, developmental conversations with managers and employees
- You use data to improve time-to-hire, source quality, retention, promotion rates
- You understand Lean thinking or are genuinely curious about it
- You care about doing recruitment properly, not just filling seats
You probably won't enjoy this if:
- You prefer to focus purely on sourcing and screening
- You're happiest when the process is already built and you just follow it
- You find it hard to manage multiple priorities without losing quality
What success looks like at 12 months:
- Hiring managers trust the process and feel genuinely supported
- Our best internal people are seen, developed, and progressing
- Critical roles have succession plans behind them
- We've measurably reduced agency spend and time-to-hire
- People talk about CarSupermarket.com as a place worth building a career
The details:
- Based in Hull — office based
- Reporting to the HR Manager
- CIPD Level 3 or above preferred (or working towards)
Interested? Send your CV and a brief note on:
- A hire you're genuinely proud of and why
- Something you did to develop or retain someone that made a difference
