The School of Adult and Community Education at Merton College is seeking a skilled and experienced lecturer to deliver high‑quality learning opportunities for adult learners. The role is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards and the successful candidate will not commence before August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach non‑accredited pottery courses to adult learners across a range of levels, supporting participants to develop their skills, creativity and confidence in an inclusive learning environment.
- Plan lessons and employ a variety of techniques suitable for adult learners from diverse educational backgrounds to ensure a stimulating, high‑quality learning experience.
- Maintain and promote health and safety standards within the pottery workshop environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification with successful teaching experience.
- Have academic and/or vocational qualifications in pottery, with craft knowledge and the ability to teach primarily hand‑building skills and some throwing.
- Possess sound knowledge of pottery and ceramics.
- Display the capacity to plan lessons and utilise a range of techniques for adult learners.
