The School of Creative and Commercial Industries at Carshalton College is seeking a dedicated Lecturer to plan, organise, assess and teach on L1-L3 Creative Media programmes. As Course Leader, you’ll be responsible for L2 and/or L3 UAL Creative Media Production involving Interval Verification, curriculum development, assessment, evaluation and other administrative duties relating to the post.

You’ll embed the development of skills (English and Maths) in teaching practice at all levels, ensure the effective and efficient use of innovative resources allocated to the programmes contributing to the future direction and planning on site and online and you’ll forge industry links for visiting speakers and work experience.

As our Lecturer, we’d like you to hold a degree or relevant professional qualifications in an appropriate subject, hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and have excellent current teaching skills, recognised as a good or better teacher. You’ll have a proven track record of successful curriculum design, implementation and development in the curriculum area with experience of teaching L1 to L3/4 Creative Media Programs, including BTEC and UAL syllabus.

You’ll have knowledge of all three stages of production with industrial experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, camera techniques, video and sound production. With a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience, you’ll have a track record of successfully monitoring and supporting “at-risk” learners to achieve or exceed their potential.

With good general IT skills, including familiarity with MS Office, you’ll be hardworking, flexible and an excellent team player. This post is primarily based at Carshalton College; however, you may be required to travel to or work from any of the South Thames Colleges Group sites.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 45 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.

As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

South Thames Colleges Group is one of London’s largest providers of post-16 education and training and is an ongoing and significant contributor to its local communities. We aim to put students’ success at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for hard-working and collaborative people who can join our team and help challenge our students to achieve and progress.
