Join us at our Head Office in Carlisle as a key player in our People team, where you’ll support the Head of People and People Manager in delivering a proactive, high-quality service across our business divisions.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of People and People Manager in delivering proactive, high-quality service across business divisions.
- Act as first line contact for line managers and employees on all people relation matters, including absence management, grievances and disciplinaries.
- Partner with business managers to coach and support on a variety of people practices, ensuring they can identify, address and resolve issues in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate implementation of people change projects, ensuring employees are engaged, communicated with and developed to enable the change.
- Support recruitment processes for relevant job vacancies, ensuring a robust search and selection process.
- Assist in the development and implementation of onboarding and training programmes.
- Support line managers on performance management agenda, with particular focus on coaching, performance improvement and development.
- Ensure data in the people database and personnel files is accurate and reliable, enabling the people team to analyse information effectively.
- Extract and prepare people data to assist the business in identifying opportunities for business improvement and growth.
- Support development of people policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law.
- Ensure any new or revised policies and procedures are cascaded to relevant teams in a timely manner.
- Co‑ordinate and facilitate employee committees and other employment meetings to promote engagement and excellent employee relations.
- Provide support to the People Coordinator with day‑to‑day transactional activities, including ad‑hoc cover during busy times and periods of leave.
- Develop and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards Level 5.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and employment issues.
- Competent user of HR databases and Microsoft Office.
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work to specific time frames.
- Previous experience working in a people role.
- Ability to influence people‑related decisions.
