A rare opportunity has arisen at our Lancaster Mill for a team member to work across the site, as a Site Operator in animal feed manufacture.

The Job

To operate plant and machinery in all areas of the site, which you have been trained to use, safely and effectively, in line with the operating instructions to ensure that targets for volume, efficiency and feed quality are met.

Take responsibility for ensuring that all operating instructions and procedures are followed so that plant and machinery is operated at optimum efficiency and finished product meets the quality and safety hazards standards specified.

Undertake packing, weighbridge, bulk out loading, blends plant, mill production and cleaning duties where necessary to ensure the mill meets demand requirements.

To ensure that the documentation for the production of feed is completed in accordance with UFAS and trading standards legislation.

Take ownership of carrying out safety checks on machinery and ensure that these are documented and report in the event of any issues in line with company procedures.

Take a proactive approach to raising concerns regarding quality / service / environmental and feed safety issues.

Working closely with colleagues ensure that the health and safety of yourself and others working across the mill is prioritised and where there are any concerns these should be reported accordingly.

To support the site management team with stock control and stock rotation in line with warehousing principles.

Take responsibility for carrying out mill maintenance duties as required which are within your skills and ability, while ensuring that all site health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.

Adhere to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.

To ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice, are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes.

Essential SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED

  • Experience working in a busy manufacturing and/or agricultural environment.
  • Basic level of IT literacy and ability to learn new systems.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • A \'can do\' attitude with the ability to work using your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • PCS experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with key internal stakeholders.
  • Hold FLT licence.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an animal feed mill.
