Carrot Recruitment (part of Compass Recruitment Solutions) is a specialist Life Sciences recruitment consultancy, supporting Pharma, Biotech, MedTech and Consultancy organisations across the UK, Europe and North America. Established in 2006, we have partnered with over 1,200 organisations on more than 10,000 vacancies, helping over 4,000 candidates secure new roles across 11 countries.

Our culture is built on genuine partnership, technical knowledge and an open, transparent approach – both with the clients and candidates we work with, and within our own teams. We give consultants real ownership of their own desk from day one, with a focus on quality over quantity and strong support from experienced colleagues as you build your specialism.

The Opportunity:

Carrot’s Healthcare Communications desk covers four closely related disciplines – Medical Communications, Medical Education, Healthcare Advertising and Healthcare PR – working with specialist agencies and consultancies whose clients are pharmaceutical companies. With vacancies on the rise, the existing team are looking for a Recruitment Consultant to take on the junior-to-mid-level candidate pipeline, freeing them up to focus on senior roles, business development and new geographies. This is a candidate-led role on a warm desk with strong, established client relationships, ideal for someone who enjoys getting to know candidates, building a great database, and matching the right people to the right opportunities. As the consultant develops, there will be opportunities to expand their desk through new business development.

As a Recruitment Consultant, you will:

  • Speak to clients to take a brief, ask questions, and clarify their needs and hiring process.
  • Manage the candidate side of the recruitment process for junior and mid-level roles across Medical Communications, Medical Education, Healthcare Advertising and Healthcare PR.
  • Screen, register and build relationships with candidates, keeping the database up to date and well organised.
  • Write up, refine and format CVs ready for submission to clients.
  • Proactively put forward suitable candidates to clients, and suggest other companies or opportunities that may be a good fit.
  • Support the Senior Consultants across their respective specialisms, working closely together as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Build your market knowledge across the Healthcare Communications space, including the clients, candidates and trends shaping it.
  • Get involved in business development as you grow into the role, helping to expand the desk with new clients and geographies.
  • Split your time between the Manchester and Cheadle offices (Tuesday and Thursdays), and working from home (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

You will ideally have:

  • Some previous recruitment experience is helpful (up to around a year).
  • A background in customer service or account management.
  • Confidence in picking up the phone, asking questions and staying organised.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort writing up and refining CVs.
  • Working independently from home for part of the week, while staying closely connected with the team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a busy candidate pipeline and database.
  • A relationship-led, candidate-focused approach.
  • A genuine interest in Pharma, Biotech, MedTech and the wider Life Sciences sector.
  • Based in, or able to commute easily to, the Northwest (Cheadle and Manchester).

Benefits:

  • 25 days leave (Accruing to 28 days maximum).
  • Contributory pension of 4%.
  • Simplyhealth Cash Plan.
  • Sick Cover.
  • Cycle to work Scheme.
  • Childcare voucher.
  • Internal Referral scheme.
  • Access to a financial advisor.
  • Up to £25 contribution towards own mobile tariff (Applicable after successfully passing probation).
