Carrot Recruitment (part of Compass Recruitment Solutions) is a specialist Life Sciences recruitment consultancy, supporting Pharma, Biotech, MedTech and Consultancy organisations across the UK, Europe and North America. Established in 2006, we have partnered with over 1,200 organisations on more than 10,000 vacancies, helping over 4,000 candidates secure new roles across 11 countries.
We're founder-led, rated 4.7 on Glassdoor, and built on real ownership: you'll run your own desk from day one, backed by experienced colleagues and without the rigid KPIs some agencies rely on. Quality of placement matters more here than call volume.
The Opportunity: Carrot's Clinical Development - Clinical Operations desk focuses on Clinical Research Associates, Clinical Trial Managers, Clinical Data Managers and clinical leadership positions across the US East Coast. With vacancies on the rise, the existing team is looking for an experienced Recruitment Consultant to grow the existing Clinical Operations desk across the US market. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous experience of the US Life Sciences market, looking to push their career forward backed by one of the market leaders in Healthcare and Life Sciences recruitment.
As a Recruitment Consultant, you will:
- Manage the full 360 recruitment lifecycle
- Develop and grow relationships with US Life Sciences organisations, identifying and winning new business opportunities
- Build a strong industry network and market reputation
- Develop a specialist niche and grow your own revenue generating desk
- Manage your recruitment processes from brief to placement
To be successful, you'll need:
- A background in commercial recruitment within US Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharma/Biotech or MedTech markets
- A consistent billing track record with strong business development skills
- A relationship-led approach to recruitment and a desire to become a recognised market specialist
25 days leave (Accruing to 28 days maximum), Contributory pension of 4%, Simplyhealth Cash Plan and Sick Cover, Cycle to work Scheme and Childcare voucher, Up to £25 contribution towards own mobile tariff, Access to a financial advisor, Opportunity to earn/win additional leave and monetary vouchers, Monthly On-target Lunch/Afternoon off, Regular Team events/socials (Applicable after successfully passing probation).
What does your career growth at Carrot look like? We map out two clear routes from here: a sales route through Senior, Principal and Associate Director, or a management route if leading a team appeals more. Both are open from day one. And more importantly, your promotions are merit-based rather than relying on a space opening or your managers decisions.
Specialism that actually means something: This isn't generalist recruitment. Carrot works concept to commercial across the full drug development lifecycle in Pharma, Biotech and MedTech. Consultants get a structured 90-day induction, access to The Recruitment Network, and 11,300 hours of internal training delivered last year across the group, so the "market specialist" positioning in the JD isn't just a line, there's an actual investment behind it.
We are founder-led and growing at the same time: A lot of candidates have to choose between a small agency with a real culture and a bigger organisation with real career paths. We are founder-led, so the values are consistent, but it's backed by Cow Corner investment and part of a group (CRS) that's acquired three businesses since 2023. That means promotion isn't capped by headcount at one small desk, there's a genuine ladder up through the wider group.
The money is uncapped and multi-layered: Most agencies give you one commission structure. Carrot gives you three ways to earn: monthly (up to 20% at 150%+ of target), a rolling three-month bonus on top of that, and an annual bonus worth 2% of your total revenue (5% above target if you're a Principal Consultant). Hit target consistently and the earning potential is real, not theoretical.
