Are you an experienced Principal Medical Writer, or a highly experienced Senior Medical Writer ready for your next challenge?

We’re supporting an award-winning global healthcare communications agency working with leading pharmaceutical, healthcare and MedTech brands.

This is a senior, influential role combining hands-on medical writing with scientific leadership, people development, editorial oversight and AI innovation . You’ll take the lead across key accounts, act as a trusted scientific contact for clients and help develop the capability of the wider medical writing team.

Everything you need to know about the role

You’ll lead the development of high-quality promotional HCP communications, scientific platforms, congress materials, presentations and digital content, translating complex clinical data into clear, compelling and compliant narratives.

Alongside your own writing, you’ll:

  • Lead key accounts and contribute to pitches, workshops and strategic discussions
  • Provide senior editorial and scientific oversight, developing the work of junior writers
  • Line manage, coach and mentor Medical Writers, supporting their career development
  • Use AI tools to improve research, writing, fact checking and editorial workflows, while helping the wider team adopt them appropriately
  • Work closely with Account Management on scoping, resource planning and proposals
  • Collaborate with Creative, Strategy, Digital and Client Services teams to deliver integrated campaigns
  • Ensure work meets pharmaceutical compliance requirements and agency/client QC processes, including Veeva

Experience and qualities that make you a strong fit

We’re looking for someone with extensive medical or healthcare communications agency experience who is already operating at Principal level, or a highly experienced Senior Medical Writer ready to take on broader leadership responsibility.

You should have:

  • Strong hands-on experience developing promotional HCP content
  • Proven experience leading complex medical writing projects
  • Experience line managing, coaching or mentoring junior writers
  • Excellent editorial, critical appraisal and scientific review skills
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance codes, MLR processes and Veeva
  • Practical experience using AI tools within medical writing or research
  • The confidence to work with clients and contribute to strategic discussions
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced agency environment
  • A collaborative, curious and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for healthcare communications and creativity

What’s on offer?

You’ll join a highly collaborative, creatively ambitious agency where Medical Writers have the opportunity to influence both the work and how the discipline continues to evolve.

  • Work across major pharmaceutical, healthcare and MedTech clients
  • Lead high-profile promotional and scientific communications projects
  • Develop your leadership and people-management experience
  • Help shape the use of AI within medical writing
  • Hybrid working from modern Central London offices
  • 25 days’ holiday
  • Private medical healthcare, life assurance and income protection
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity benefits
  • Plus a range of health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits

Could this be the role for you?

If you’re an established Principal Medical Writer or highly experienced Senior Medical Writer looking for a role combining scientific leadership, creativity, people development and innovation, we’d love to hear from you.
