We're partnering with an award-winning global healthcare communications agency that's continuing to grow its Medical Writing team and is looking for an accomplished scientific communicator to lead high-profile healthcare programmes.

- As a Senior Medical Writer, you'll lead the development of high-quality scientific content across a broad range of healthcare communications programmes, acting as a trusted scientific partner to both clients and internal teams.
- You'll take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery, provide strategic scientific counsel and ensure all content meets the highest standards of editorial excellence and scientific accuracy.
- Alongside your writing responsibilities, you'll mentor junior writers, contribute to business growth and help drive best practice across the wider team.
- Develop clear, accurate and engaging scientific content across a diverse range of healthcare communications materials, ensuring exceptional editorial quality and scientific integrity.
- Interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data for a variety of healthcare audiences, tailoring content to strategic objectives and communication goals.
- Lead scientific aspects of client projects, providing expert advice during brief development, content planning and strategic discussions.
- Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted scientific advisor and confidently presenting work during client meetings and review sessions.
- Manage multiple writing projects across several accounts, ensuring quality, budgets and timelines are consistently delivered.
- Work collaboratively with account teams, strategists and creative colleagues to develop integrated healthcare communications programmes.
- Oversee quality control through detailed editorial review, referencing and scientific accuracy checks.
- Mentor, coach and review the work of junior Medical Writers, providing constructive feedback and supporting their ongoing development.
- Contribute to resource planning, project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives across the Medical Writing team.
- Embrace AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigour, editorial excellence and responsible content development.
Experience and qualities that make you a strong fit:
- Previous Senior Medical Writer or experienced Medical Writer experience gained within a medical communications, healthcare communications or pharmaceutical agency environment.
- Approximately 4-5 years' medical writing experience within an agency, with a proven track record of leading scientific content across multiple accounts.
- A strong scientific background with a degree in life sciences or a related discipline; MSc or PhD qualifications would be preferred.
- Extensive experience interpreting complex scientific and clinical data and translating it into engaging, audience-focused communications.
- Strong client-facing experience with the confidence to lead scientific discussions, present work and provide strategic scientific counsel.
- Experience reviewing, mentoring and supporting junior writers while helping to maintain consistently high editorial standards.
- Excellent editorial, proofreading and quality control skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.
- Experience across a variety of therapy areas would be advantageous, with exposure to oncology, diabetes or other specialist therapeutic areas welcomed.
- A collaborative, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach, combined with a genuine passion for science, healthcare communications and developing others.
- An enthusiasm for embracing AI and emerging technologies to enhance ways of working while maintaining scientific excellence.
