Our client is a growing UK wholesale business specialising in the import and nationwide distribution of food, beverage, and tobacco products sourced across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With a strong supply chain network and expanding operations, they are looking for a commercially minded finance professional with SAP expertise to support financial operations, international trade activities, and business performance.

About the Role

This is a hands-on finance role combining accounting, SAP FI/CO operations, and international trade finance. You’ll work closely with finance, logistics, procurement, and suppliers to ensure accurate reporting, smooth import financial processes, and strong commercial control across the business. The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced FMCG or wholesale environment and is confident managing multi-currency transactions, stock costing, and supplier reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
    • Monitor profitability, margins, and operational performance
  • SAP FI/CO Operations
    • Manage day-to-day finance activities within SAP FI/CO
    • Maintain data accuracy and support finance process improvements
    • Assist with SAP reporting and system optimisation
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
    • Manage supplier and customer ledgers
    • Process payment runs and account reconciliations
    • Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies efficiently
  • Import & Trade Finance
    • Coordinate financial aspects of international imports
    • Monitor landed costs, freight charges, customs duties, and currency fluctuations
    • Support letters of credit and multi-currency supplier transactions
  • VAT, Compliance & Controls
    • Assist with UK VAT returns and financial compliance
    • Support customs and import documentation processes
    • Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Inventory & Cost Management
    • Monitor stock valuations and inventory-related reporting
    • Analyse product margins and cost performance
    • Support accurate inventory reconciliation processes

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within:
    • Wholesale
    • FMCG
    • Food distribution
    • Import/export finance

Required Skills

  • SAP Expertise
    • Strong hands-on experience using SAP FI/CO
    • SAP S/4HANA experience would be advantageous
  • Technical Knowledge
    • Good understanding of:
      • UK VAT
      • Customs duties
      • Import/export finance processes
      • Financial controls and compliance
  • International Trade Exposure
    • Experience working with overseas suppliers
    • Knowledge of letters of credit and multi-currency transactions

Languages

  • Fluent English essential
