About the Company
We are working with a specialist engineering consultancy focused on accelerating experimentation and improving technical maturity within modern product teams. The organisation is entering an exciting new phase, leveraging cutting-edge agent-based technologies to accelerate innovation and scaling its feature experimentation practice across mid-to-large enterprises in the UK and internationally. The team helps ambitious product organisations significantly increase A/B testing velocity, implement robust feature flagging and experimentation workflows, and improve CI/CD maturity. Their work has contributed to substantial commercial impact, including generating £20m+ in additional revenue for clients through high-velocity experimentation. This is a foundational hire to support continued growth.
About the Role
We are hiring a Technical Lead to act as a technical authority across client engagements and help shape the next stage of the consultancy’s evolution. This is a hybrid role spanning hands-on engineering, technical consulting, and strategic leadership. Initially, you will be deeply embedded within client accounts, working directly on delivery. Over time, the role will evolve toward technical strategy, client leadership, and building a centre of excellence for experimentation engineering. You will also work closely with senior leadership to influence technical direction and long-term capability development.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical authority across feature experimentation and engineering engagements
- Design and implement feature flagging and experimentation platform architectures
- Lead improvements across CI/CD pipelines to increase deployment and testing velocity
- Provide hands-on engineering leadership across modern full-stack systems
- Work across modern stacks including React, Vue, Node.js, PHP, and cloud-native infrastructure
- Lead technical discovery sessions with new and existing clients
- Support pre-sales conversations alongside leadership, shaping technical strategy
- Define governance, standards, and best practices for experimentation at scale
- Contribute to internal innovation, including AI-assisted experimentation tooling
- Engage with senior stakeholders and translate technical concepts into clear business impact
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in modern full-stack engineering environments
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release management, and production systems
- Experience working with distributed systems and scalable architectures
- Comfortable working in React/Vue, Node.js, PHP, and cloud environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems clearly
- Experience operating in enterprise or high-growth scale-up environments
- Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders in a consulting capacity
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-autonomy consultancy environment
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
- Exposure to experimentation platforms (e.g. Statsig, Optimizely, Kameleoon)
- Experience implementing or managing feature flag systems
- Background in performance optimisation or large-scale A/B testing systems
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has operated as a senior engineer or technical lead and wants broader strategic influence
- Enjoys system architecture, experimentation, and engineering leadership
- Wants to move beyond delivery into shaping technical direction and client outcomes
- Is motivated by building impactful systems used across multiple organisations
- Wants to help define the future of experimentation engineering in the UK
This is not a purely delivery-focused engineering role. It is a leadership-track position with growing influence over technical and strategic direction.
Why This Role?
- High autonomy and real technical ownership
- Clear pathway into senior technical leadership
- Foundational role in a fast-growing specialist consultancy
- Direct collaboration with senior leadership
- Opportunity to shape how experimentation engineering is delivered at scale in the UK market
