Are you an experienced Accounts professional looking for your next opportunity within a friendly and established accountancy practice?
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their team. This is a varied role covering bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation and basic tax work, providing an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within practice.
The successful candidate will have at least two years' experience working within an accountancy practice, with a strong understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation. You will also be confident communicating with clients and managing a varied workload.
What You'll Be Doing
- Completing fortnightly, monthly and quarterly bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and within relevant deadlines
- Preparing limited company accounts
- Preparing sole trader accounts
- Preparing partnership accounts
- Assisting with basic tax return preparation
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide support
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Supporting the wider management team with ad hoc duties and projects
- Assisting with general office duties, including answering telephone calls and dealing with day-to-day enquiries
- Working to deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
What We're Looking For
- At least two years' experience working within an accountancy practice
- Previous experience with bookkeeping, VAT and/or accounts preparation
- AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent
- Experience preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and/or partnerships
- Good understanding of VAT and general accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident communicating with clients and building professional relationshipsAbility to manage a varied workload and work to deadlines
- A proactive and positive approach to work
- Good IT skills and confidence using accounting software
