We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead to join a dynamic team working on large-scale water infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you will oversee and deliver the full spectrum of commissioning activities, from dry testing to process start-up. You will report to the Commissioning Manager and may supervise a team of commissioning staff and subcontractors to achieve successful project outcomes.

We can consider people from an Electrical/EICA or Process Engineering background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of electrical, instrumentation, control, and process commissioning for major water treatment projects.
  • Perform hands-on dry, wet, and process testing where required, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.
  • Supervise and verify subcontractor commissioning activities.
  • Review, produce, and approve RAMS, commissioning plans, and related documentation.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate commissioning risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure commissioning requirements are embedded in project specifications and scope.
  • Assess design deliverables such as functional design specifications, equipment lists, P&IDs, control philosophies, and telemetry requirements.
  • Prepare and manage commissioning schedules and progress reports.
  • Organize and deliver specialist equipment training sessions for team members.
  • Chair commissioning meetings, record minutes, and track follow-up actions.
  • Contribute to O&M manual preparation and ensure accurate commissioning records are maintained.
  • Provide takeover reports and support knowledge transfer across the delivery team.

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in electrical or process commissioning within water or environmental infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in water, wastewater, or sludge treatment operations.
  • Strong practical knowledge of treatment processes and systems.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • CSCS or SHEA Water Card.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card.

Technical Qualifications & Skills:

  • Relevant apprenticeship, certificate, diploma, or degree (Electrician, M&E Maintenance, Process Control, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science).
  • Extensive commissioning experience within water treatment or similar process industries.
  • Deep understanding of water, wastewater, and sludge treatment processes.
