The projects are located at Bryn, Hindley, Reddish North and Swinton, with the primary project office expected to be based at Bryn and the wider regional office in Wigan. This is a varied commercial role requiring someone comfortable working across several live projects and managing a significant subcontract supply chain. Across the four schemes, there are approximately 50 subcontractors, with the Senior Quantity Surveyor taking responsibility for subcontract management, commercial administration and the pricing and management of change. The successful candidate will work under an NEC Option A contract environment and will need to be confident managing subcontract packages from a commercial perspective. The position will involve regular travel between the four project locations, so flexibility around site attendance is important. The business is able to offer hybrid working and can accommodate a working pattern involving approximately two days per week in the office/site environment. As the team develops, the role is also expected to include line management responsibility for another Quantity Surveyor. Key Responsibilities ·Take commercial responsibility for subcontract packages across four live Access for All rail schemes. ·Manage approximately 50 subcontractors across the wider programme. ·Administer subcontract packages from appointment through delivery, change management and final account. ·Assess, price and manage variations and contractual change. ·Work within an NEC Option A contractual environment. ·Maintain accurate cost reporting, forecasting and commercial records across the projects. ·Manage subcontractor applications, payments, variations and commercial correspondence. ·Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities across the programme. ·Work closely with project, operational and site teams to ensure commercial and delivery objectives remain aligned. ·Support procurement and ongoing commercial management of key subcontract packages. ·Travel between project sites at Bryn, Hindley, Reddish North and Swinton as required. ·Build effective working relationships with subcontractors, project teams and other stakeholders. ·Provide commercial input across multiple schemes simultaneously and prioritise workload accordingly. ·Support and, in time, line manage another Quantity Surveyor within the commercial team. Essential Requirements ·Strong Quantity Surveying experience within rail or civil engineering environment. ·Approximately six to nine years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience would be preferred, with ideally 2 years as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. ·Proven experience managing subcontractors and subcontract packages. ·Good working knowledge of NEC contracts. ·Experience managing commercial change, variations and subcontractor accounts. ·Background working for a main contractor or subcontractor. ·A specific degree is not essential. Candidates who have developed through an apprenticeship or practical industry experience will also be considered, provided they can demonstrate the appropriate level of Quantity Surveying experience.
