Are you an experienced Developing Highways Senior Engineer looking for your next role? As part of the Developing Highways Team, you will take the lead on the management of Section 38 and Section 278 agreements associated with new developments across Shropshire. Working closely with developers, consultants, planners, legal teams and internal engineering colleagues, you will ensure that highway infrastructure is designed, delivered and adopted in accordance with the Council's standards and objectives. This role requires office/site presence 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee applications for Section 38 and Section 278 agreements.
  • Undertake technical assessments of highway works associated with new developments.
  • Review and approve highway designs submitted by developers and consultants.
  • Prepare legal instructions and support the drafting and negotiation of highway agreements.
  • Monitor agreements to ensure legal requirements are in place before works commence.
  • Oversee inspections, supervision and adoption of highway works.
  • Provide technical advice throughout the construction process.

Experience Needed:

  • Experience of working with Section 38 and Section 278 agreements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of highway design and construction.
