About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a growing major projects team delivering complex MEICA engineering schemes across the UK. This is a senior commercial leadership role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of large, technically challenging infrastructure projects from pre-contract through to final account. As the business continues to expand its major projects portfolio, you'll also play a key role in shaping commercial processes, mentoring team members and helping to build a high-performing commercial function. This role is ideal for an experienced Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial Manager with a strong background in engineering, utilities, water, energy or industrial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of major MEICA projects, ensuring strong financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Take ownership of projects from tender stage through to final account.
  • Oversee project controls, including cost forecasting, reporting, change management and commercial risk.
  • Work closely with operational and project delivery teams to develop and implement commercial strategy.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Support tender submissions, estimating activities and commercial risk reviews.
  • Develop and implement commercial best practice, governance and reporting processes.
  • Mentor and support the development of commercial team members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted commercial advisor.
  • Ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining high standards of contractual compliance.

About You

You’ll be an experienced commercial professional with a proven track record delivering large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects. You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant experience in Commercial Management within MEICA, engineering, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing projects valued at £50 million+.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, cost management and financial reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of commercial contracts and contractual frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage commercial risk and maximise project performance.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work independently while supporting and developing others.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status is desirable but not essential.
