Project Manager - Highways & Civil Engineering in Bath / Somerset | Permanent | Full Time | Hybrid Working Where Possible | Salary Dependent on Experience + Company Car + Private Healthcare

Are you a Project Manager with highways construction experience looking to take ownership of significant regional infrastructure schemes across Somerset? You will be joining an established civil engineering business delivering projects through the Somerset Council New Asset Framework and Traffic Signal Infrastructure Framework. You will have the opportunity to lead schemes from delivery through to completion, work closely with key public-sector stakeholders and develop your career within a business that invests in its people.

The opportunity: My client is an established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the South West. Due to continued work across its regional civil engineering portfolio, they are looking for a Project Manager to take responsibility for highways and infrastructure schemes across Somerset.

You will work with project teams, clients, supply-chain partners, stakeholders and local communities to ensure projects are delivered safely, commercially and to the required quality.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead project teams to deliver highways and civil engineering schemes safely, efficiently and to the required quality.
  • Manage projects delivered through the Somerset Council New Asset Framework and Traffic Signal Infrastructure Framework.
  • Build productive relationships with clients, stakeholders, supply-chain partners and local communities.
  • Ensure projects comply with contractual requirements, industry standards and internal governance processes.
  • Take responsibility for project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting and profit and loss management.
  • Manage project programmes, identifying risks and taking appropriate action to keep delivery on track.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety and professionalism throughout project delivery.
  • Support, mentor and develop members of the project team, sharing knowledge and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams to identify opportunities and resolve project challenges.

What you will need:

  • Proven experience delivering highways construction projects, including road construction and drainage works.
  • A strong understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC4, or ICE conditions of contract.
  • Good commercial awareness, including an understanding of project cost control, forecasting and P&L performance.
  • Experience of programme management within a civil engineering or infrastructure environment.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, project teams and supply-chain partners.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing project priorities.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • A valid CSCS card.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or another relevant discipline, a recognised project management qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies would be beneficial but is not essential.
