The Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural inspections, investigations, and surveys on a range of civil engineering assets across the highways sector.
  • Use specialist access techniques to inspect and examine various structures throughout the UK, ensuring compliance with technical standards and specifications.
  • Lead the safe and efficient delivery of Structural Inspections, Investigations, and Surveys.
  • Support pre‑work planning activities, including liaising with landowners, agents, contractors, and reviewing proposed safe systems of work.
  • Prepare inspection reports and produce detailed drawings using CAD software.
  • Work within a growing team on railway infrastructure projects.

Must Have Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a Structures Inspector role, with knowledge of industry standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
  • Familiarity with CS450 and the Inspection Manual for Highways Structures.
  • Progression towards a Senior or Inspector qualification under the Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme (BICS).
  • Experience using asset management software such as IAMIS, AGILE, or Bridge Station.
  • A degree, HNC, or HND in civil or structural engineering (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel and work nationwide.
  • The ability to work at height and in confined spaces.

This role offers a competitive salary of up to £42,245, depending on experience and competency level. In addition to the salary, you will receive:
