A leading civil engineering and highways contractor delivering works on behalf of a local authority is seeking an experienced Bridge Structures Site Agent to manage the safe and efficient delivery of bridge maintenance and renewal schemes across Kent. This is a key site-based leadership role, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on bridge and highway structures projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of bridge and structures works on site, including refurbishment, strengthening, repairs, and maintenance
  • Take full responsibility for site activities, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and safety requirements
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners
  • Plan and manage works programmes, resources, and sequencing to achieve programme targets
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and RAMS
  • Monitor cost control, productivity, and progress, reporting accurately to the project management team
  • Promote and enforce a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, leading by example
  • Liaise with the client, local authority representatives, inspectors, and stakeholders as required
  • Manage quality assurance processes, inspections, and handover documentation
  • Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and change on site

About You

You will be an experienced Site Agent with a strong background in bridge and highway structures, confident managing complex works in live highway environments.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent delivering bridge or highway structures projects
  • Strong knowledge of bridge construction, maintenance, and repair techniques
  • Sound understanding of highways and civil engineering standards and specifications
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and multiple work fronts
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Manager), and First Aid qualifications
  • Experience working on local authority or highways framework contracts
  • Temporary works knowledge and experience
