An immediate requirement has arisen for an experienced Stores Person to join a busy operational depot in Bury St Edmunds. Due to ongoing workload demands, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials, equipment and depot supplies are available when needed to keep operations running efficiently. This is a hands-on role offering a 6-month contract with responsibility for stock control, materials management, depot operations and supporting frontline operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of depot stores and stock inventory.
  • Order, receive, issue and maintain stock materials, equipment and consumables.
  • Work closely with managers and supervisors to source materials for reactive repairs, maintenance activities and project works.
  • Coordinate stock ordering with other stores personnel to avoid overstocking and maximise value for money.
  • Monitor and order fuel supplies across operational depots.
  • Arrange servicing and maintenance of fuel tanks and pumping equipment.
  • Record and monitor stock levels and update relevant management systems.
  • Order and distribute facilities management supplies across multiple depot locations.
  • Maintain accurate stock records, inventories and depot documentation.
  • Support general depot maintenance and housekeeping activities.
  • Operate telehandler/forklift equipment safely to move and manage materials around the depot.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Stores Person, Storekeeper, Materials Controller or Depot Operative.
  • Telehandler and/or Forklift certification is essential.
  • Experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or similar operational environments.
  • Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operational teams and depot staff.
  • Competent IT skills for stock and asset management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
