Are you a Project Manager looking to take ownership of critical Overhead Lines and Substation infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery? My client is seeking an organised and commercially aware Project Manager to manage cost, quality, safety and programme performance across UK Overhead Line and Substation projects.
You will be managing project delivery, liaising with client Project Managers, preparing safety plans, risk assessments and programmes, and ensuring site safety reports are completed. You will also be handling customer queries, costing extra works, managing approved sub-contracts and keeping cost-control systems updated.
You will be ensuring projects meet current legislation including HASAWA, NRSWA and COSHH, while supporting and line managing Site Managers and Supervisors.
To be considered for this Project Manager role, you will need strong people management, financial, and organisational skills, along with confidence using MS Project, Excel, and Word. Previous experience as an Overhead Linesman is essential, as is current experience working as a Project Manager.
You will be based at the company's office in Kent and will be required to travel and stay away from home as needed, depending on the workstream. You will also attend regular line management reviews and annual appraisals, providing structure, support, and opportunities for professional development within the business.
Responsibilities- Manage the overall control of projects across cost, quality and time.
- Liaising with the client's Project Manager throughout project delivery.
- Preparing project safety plans, risk assessments and project programmes.
- Providing key project dates to SAP engineers.
- Ensuring site safety visits and reports are completed.
- Handling customer complaints and compensation claims appropriately.
- Ensuring extra works are costed and invoiced.
- Managing sub-contract approvals in line with company policies.
- You will be regularly updating cost-control systems.
- Ensuring third parties neighbouring project sites are properly considered.
- You will be making sure projects meet current legislation, including HASAWA, NRSWA and COSHH.
- Responsible for Site Managers and Supervisors, ensuring they receive appropriate line management and support.
- Background as an Overhead Linesman.
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects within electrical infrastructure including across OHL and Substations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A solid understanding of quality assurance and inspection processes.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- The ability to work both remotely and on site as required.
- Full and clean driving license.
