An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well-established and growing planning consultancy based near Shrewsbury. This is an exciting role for a commercially minded Senior Town Planner looking to manage a varied portfolio of planning projects while working alongside a highly experienced team of planning professionals.

You will take ownership of planning cases from initial instruction through to determination, providing expert planning advice to a diverse client base and representing clients throughout the planning process.

The Role

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning applications from appointment through to determination.
  • Assessing new planning enquiries and advising on planning strategy.
  • Researching planning history, planning policy and site constraints.
  • Undertaking site visits and preparing planning appraisals.
  • Preparing fee proposals and quotations.
  • Producing high-quality planning statements, supporting documents, Certificates of Lawfulness and appeal submissions.
  • Liaising and negotiating with Local Planning Authorities, consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring planning applications and keeping clients informed throughout the process.
  • Representing clients at meetings, hearings and planning-related events.

About You

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification from an RTPI-accredited planning course.
  • Chartered Membership of the RTPI (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience representing planning cases at appeal.
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following:
    • Certificates of Lawfulness
    • Planning Enforcement
    • Land Use Planning, including Gypsy and Traveller applications

Working Hours
