Carrington West are looking for a reliable Site Agent with highways experience to work with our client, a major contractor on a National Highways scheme in the Midlands. Working for a major contractor to National Highways covering a major highways scheme, you will be expected to manage established site and contact systems to control the flow of engineering information between the company and client.

Responsible for the performance of Supervisors and Engineers under your control, you will continually appraise and develop their skills, whilst generating and reviewing H&S paperwork and identifying engineering discrepancies within the works information to resolve these issues to ensure works are constructed with the full agreement of the designer.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee all aspects of a project from cradle to grave.
  • Define a project's scope and goals.
  • Identify safe and unsafe working conditions.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines.
  • Coordinate project staff.
  • Resource planning and allocation.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Carry out method statement and risk assessment.
  • Manage project administration, including all documentation.
  • Meet budgetary objectives.
  • Report regularly to senior management.
  • Track project performance.
  • Raise EWN's and Raise TQ's.
  • Organise resources (labour, plant, materials, sub-contractors) on each site to complete the work to plan and programme.
  • Ensure that all plant & machinery provided for the works is suitable for the tasks being undertaken.
  • Ensure site related paperwork is completed and issued to the relevant department on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor working hours to ensure compliance with WTD.
  • Perform the performance evaluation of Supervisors and Foremen under their control and continually appraise and develop their skills.
  • Coach and look after new starters so that they become competent to work alongside a motorway or high-speed road.
  • Organise training of employees in the various skills required for execution of the works.

What you will need to succeed:

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be an experienced Site Agent with sound knowledge of the construction on highways projects, drainage, and civils. Those who can demonstrate good understanding of drainage will be much preferred, with qualifications to include:

  • HND / HNC qualified or equivalent (Civil Engineering or similar).
  • First Aid.
  • CSCS Supervisor Card essential.
  • SMSTS essential.
  • Competency with MS Project.

Works will be carried out onsite during the day, 5 days a week. There will be occasional split shifts.
