Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of highways maintenance projects, with a strong focus on drainage works and bridge refurbishment. Working for a specialist subcontractor, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision of site activities, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role suits a hands‑on supervisor with strong knowledge of highways environments and the ability to lead site teams on live carriageways.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day‑to‑day site operations on highways maintenance projects
- Oversee drainage and bridge refurbishment works to ensure quality and compliance
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Brief site operatives and subcontractors through daily briefings and toolbox talks
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors on site
- Liaise with Project Managers, engineers, and the supply chain
- Monitor progress and report on programme and site issues
- Ensure works are completed to drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Maintain accurate site records, including permits, inspections, and daily diaries
- Assist with resolving site issues and supporting project delivery
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor within highways maintenance or civil engineering
- Good working knowledge of drainage works and bridge refurbishment
- Experience working as a subcontractor in live highway environments
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (essential)
- CSCS card (essential)
- Strong awareness of health and safety standards
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) qualification
- Experience working under traffic management
- First Aid at Work
