The predicted salary is between 43.2 - 52.8 Β£ per hour.

My Local Authority Client in Cambridgeshire is looking to source an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team on a long-term contract.

The successful candidate will have strong Development Management experience, including working on major and complex planning schemes, and will be confident managing applications through to decision.

The role will involve leading on complex planning schemes, negotiating S106 agreements, preparing and presenting complex reports and dealing with planning appeals, including informal hearings and planning inquiries. The role offers hybrid working, with at least one day per week mandatory attendance in the office.

Key requirements:

  • Ideally at least 3 years' Development Management experience, including major schemes
  • Strong understanding of the Development Management process and planning policy
  • Experience negotiating S106 or equivalent planning obligations
  • Experience leading complex planning applications through to decision
  • Experience of planning appeals, informal hearings or inquiries
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Town Planning degree or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy Development Management environment

Proposed start date: 19 October 2026

The contract is initially running to July 2027, with potential extension through to November 2027.
