My client is seeking a skilled Civil 3D Technician at either Senior or Principal level to join their civil engineering team, which specialises in the design of private infrastructure for logistics and film studio developments.
This role requires a robust understanding of ground modelling and how it integrates with the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high-level assessments based on practical design assumptions during early design stages (RIBA 2-3), as well as keen attention to detail for detailed design stages (RIBA 4-5).
A pro-active approach to design ownership is essential - this is an opportunity to shape projects with technical input and progress your career, rather than simply fulfilling a supporting role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Civil 3D models, primarily using feature lines.
- Undertake cut & fill analysis in collaboration with overall design as well as geotechnical recommendations.
- Take ownership of level design and earthworks strategy, moving beyond simply fulfilling briefs to proposing optimised solutions.
- Prepare detailed drawings and design outputs for private infrastructure projects, including drainage and access roads.
- Ensure compliance with Part M Building Regulations, Design for Delivery, and relevant civil engineering standards.
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to deliver accurate and timely design packages.
- Support the team in resolving design challenges and improving workflows.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, with strong experience in feature lines and surface modelling.
- Ability to work with profiles for private highway design (desirable).
- Experience in cut & fill calculations and understanding of geotechnical constraints.
- Experience in large private development schemes, including vertical build as well as enabling works/earthworks schemes.
- Knowledge of Part M Building Regulations and applicable civil engineering standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative in design development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable
- Previous experience in private infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with drainage design principles and integration with earthworks.
- Other desirable technical input: tracking with use of AutoTrack.
- Former involvement in report/specification writing is advantageous.
