We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to oversee a flagship water infrastructure project within a major capital delivery programme. Based in Bexley, South London, this role offers the opportunity to deliver complex and vital works that will help secure the future of the region's water services while protecting the environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dynamic team on a major project as part of a long-term water capital delivery framework.
The Role: As Senior Construction Manager, you will take full ownership of a major infrastructure project from inception through to completion, ensuring safe, efficient, and right-first-time delivery. You will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary project team, manage key client relationships, and ensure that operational and financial targets are met, all while driving world-class performance in health, safety, environment, customer service, and compliance. The project scope is broad, covering gravity pipelines, rising mains, trunk mains, pumping stations, MEICA works, shafts, and tunnelling.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of major infrastructure projects to agreed safety, quality, time, and budget targets.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Lead and mentor project teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards through regular audits and inspections.
- Drive productivity improvements and efficiency gains without compromising on safety.
- Maximise cash collection, minimise work in progress, and deliver targeted project margins.
- Support Thames Water in achieving their Performance Commitments and Water UK performance metric targets.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, designers, and key supply chain partners.
- Promote a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture across all project activities.
About You: Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field. Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 or equivalent (desirable). NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction). Proven experience delivering large, complex infrastructure projects within the water industry. Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams. Extensive experience in civils, tunnelling, trunk mains, pumping stations, and MEICA works. Ability to drive operational and financial performance, including margin and cash flow. SMSTS certification. APM (Association for Project Management) qualification (desirable). Water Hygiene certification (EUSR Card) (desirable). Full UK driving licence.
