Senior Civil Engineer – Data Centre Projects (UK & Europe)

An established, multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their high-performing infrastructure team, working on major data centre projects across the UK and Europe.

About the Role
The successful candidate will take on a technical and leadership role across a variety of civil engineering projects. The role involves delivering highways and drainage designs, supporting planning processes, and working closely with other design disciplines including architects, MEP engineers, and project managers.
The consultancy is known for its quality-first approach and offers civil engineering services as part of both full multi-disciplinary commissions and standalone technical packages. Projects often exceed £500 million in value and cover highways, earthworks, flood mitigation, and sustainable drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the design and coordination of highways and drainage schemes across high-profile development projects.
·Interface effectively with internal and external design disciplines on multi-disciplinary schemes.
·Represent the civil engineering discipline at client and project meetings.
·Produce Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, Nutrient Mitigation reports, and pre-planning advice.
·Support the bid process and help prepare proposals to win new work.
·Carry out site visits to assess existing conditions and resolve technical issues during construction.
·Oversee designs that comply with Section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and Section 104, 106, 185 (Water Industry Act) requirements.
What They\’re Looking For
·A degree-qualified Civil Engineer with strong experience in a similar consultancy environment.
·Ideally chartered (CEng) or on the path to becoming chartered via ICE or equivalent.
·A strong background in drainage (foul and surface water), minor highways design, and external works.
·Proficient in Civil 3D, with experience in AutoCAD. Knowledge of Infodrainage is desirable.
·Comfortable producing design calculations, specifications, and drawings through all project stages.
·Good working knowledge of Building Regs (especially Part H & M), British Standards, and BIM processes.
·Solid understanding of SUDS, cut and fill analysis, and infrastructure coordination on large schemes.
