We're looking for a Transport Planner to join a growing transport planning team based in Manchester. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous experience who wants to develop their career within a busy consultancy environment, working across a varied portfolio of development projects. Applications are also welcomed from strong recent graduates with relevant industry experience or a relevant Master's degree.
The Role
- You'll work on a diverse range of projects across sectors including residential, industrial, energy, healthcare, education and major masterplanning schemes.
- Working alongside experienced transport planners as well as civil, structural and environmental specialists, you'll help advise clients and project teams on transport and access matters throughout the planning and development process.
- Preparing and contributing to Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Supporting the production of transport chapters for Environmental Statements.
- Advising on site access, transport strategies, accessibility and sustainable travel.
- Reviewing transport planning policy and guidance to inform development proposals.
- Helping shape site layouts and designs alongside architects, planners and other consultants.
- Preparing or supporting Delivery and Servicing Plans.
- Contributing to project meetings and managing several project tasks at once.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities and other project stakeholders.
Depending on your experience, you may also get involved in preliminary highway design, junction assessments and vehicle tracking.
About You
- We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about transport planning and keen to take on greater responsibility as their career develops.
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in transport planning, geography, engineering, planning or a related discipline.
- Around 2-3 years' transport planning experience, preferably within a consultancy.
- Experience preparing or contributing to Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and other planning-related transport reports.
- A good understanding of current transport planning policy and guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and contribute effectively to project teams.
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to your work.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking, highway design or junction modelling software would be beneficial but isn't essential.
- You may also be working towards a relevant professional qualification.
