Are you a Systems Engineer with experience in mechanical, electrical, and process systems in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace, or defence? We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join a dynamic contract team delivering defence and decommissioning projects.
You will work in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment, bridging complex systems, leading interface management, and delivering robust, compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, manage, and verify system requirement specifications.
- Lead interface management across mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
- Define system architecture and perform functional and interface modelling.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure system designs meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and operate requirements management software (DOORS preferred).
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Capella (desirable).
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or STEM subject (or equivalent demonstrable experience).
- Experience in highly regulated industries - nuclear, aerospace, or defence.
- Strong foundation in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Experience with systems thinking and systems engineering processes.
- Competence in producing technical documentation, managing system interfaces, and supporting design decisions.
Desirable Skills
- Prior exposure to the nuclear sector.
- Systems Engineering qualifications/training.
- Practitioner experience with Rationale DOORS.
- Familiarity with MBSE and INCOSE/BS standards.
- Experience transitioning from core engineering into systems engineering roles.
