Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the South West in the search for a Planning Policy Manager to join their town planning department on a 12-month contract. We are looking for a confident and experienced Planning Policy Manager to support the council and senior leadership team in the development of a new local plan.
We are looking for candidates with both technical and management experience, to lead, coordinate and prepare the team through the next stages of their local plan. The council have recently changed timetables and are in the process of procuring evidence (e.g. housing and employment needs) and scoping strategy.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Extensive experience of working in a Planning Policy Team
- Significant LPA experience of preparing a Local Plan up to and including an Examination
- Experience of giving evidence at a Local Plan examination
These duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exclusive nor exhaustive as the post-holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities.
To apply for this role, it is essential that you have extensive experience working and leading (not mandatory) a Planning Policy team. The successful candidates must have good fundamental and technical knowledge of all relevant planning legislation and policies; significant experience preparing a Local Plan up to examination; and giving evidence at a Local Plan examination.
It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI. The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering hybrid working arrangements.
