Principal Planning Policy Officer & Team Leader

Carrington West is assisting their local authority client based in Oxfordshire in the search for a Principal Planning Policy Officer & Team Leader to join their town planning department on an initial 6‑month contract, then rolling.

Role responsibilities include supporting the Policy Manager and team through the Local Plan Examination process, and managing day‑to‑day operations of the planning policy team.

Requirements

  • Significant planning policy experience, especially in housing, viability, developer contributions and neighbourhood planning.
  • Experience preparing a Local Plan to examination and giving evidence at a Local Plan examination.
  • Experience working in a planning policy team with a strong knowledge of all relevant planning legislation and policies.
  • Postgraduate degree in planning, regeneration or related discipline (desired).
  • Eligibility for membership of RTPI (desired).

Pay: £55 to £70 per hour (depending on experience). Contract: 6‑month initial term, rolling thereafter. Hybrid working arrangements available.
