My client is an environmental consultancy that delivers pragmatic environmental advice and guidance with clear leadership and focused aims.
As a member of the Ecology Division you will undertake a mix of office and site-based tasks supporting UK-wide delivery of development schemes for a range of public and private sector clients. You will be based in Manchester but will travel throughout the UK on various projects.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake ecological surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (Phase 1 Habitat Survey/UKHab) and Protected Species Surveys on complex sites, in line with appropriate guidance.
- Independently produce ecological reports such as PEA, EcIA, protected species reports, biodiversity metric calculations, HRA screening assessments, management plans and method statements to a high standard in line with best practice guidance.
- Conduct quality control of reports to ensure a consistently high standard of work across the team.
- Obtain Natural England licenses (bats and/or water vole desirable) and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Act as mentor for junior team members and take on management responsibilities as per company structure.
- Manage projects and advise clients appropriately throughout the planning process.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and represent the company at networking and industry events.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, and actively pursue new work opportunities for the company.
- Relevant undergraduate degree or higher.
- Full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or in a position to obtain membership.
- Essential experience working within an environmental consultancy.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, including examples of project management.
- Botanical skills equivalent to FISC level 4 or above highly desirable.
- Act as a licensed ecologist on European Protected Species Licenses.
- Actively pursue new avenues of work.
- Be a technical expert in your specialty.
- Archive FISC assessment level 4 or higher.
