As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be trusted to lead commercial activities from project inception through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in line with contractual requirements.
My client is a leading infrastructure contractor delivering complex major projects across the energy sector on behalf of a number of DNOs across 33kV - 400kV. With a strong pipeline of secured work throughout East Anglia, they are seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the continued growth of the business and help deliver key projects that contribute to the UK's infrastructure network. This role would suit an all-round Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor and a proven track record within infrastructure environments.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of multiple projects and ensuring the successful delivery of business objectives. You will be:
- Leading commercial activities throughout the full project lifecycle, including procurement, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Preparing and managing subcontract packages, tender assessments, contract awards, and final account negotiations.
- Maximising project cash flow through the preparation and submission of accurate valuations, applications, and invoices.
- Monitoring project costs, resources, and financial performance to achieve or exceed commercial targets.
- Identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risks whilst capitalising on opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Administering change control processes and ensuring robust commercial governance.
- Ensuring compliance with NEC contracts and maintaining accurate commercial records.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members to aid their professional development.
- Contributing towards sustainability initiatives and supporting project carbon reduction objectives.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be considered for this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveying or Quantity Surveying role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
- Strong infrastructure project experience, ideally within utilities, energy, civil engineering, or related sectors.
- Excellent working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Strong understanding of procurement, commercial management, cost reporting, and forecasting.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior members of a commercial team.
