Location: North Yorkshire Rate: £31-£33 per hour (Umbrella PAYE) Contract: Initial 3-month contract with the possibility of extension Working Arrangements: Full-time, site/office based Exciting Opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor in North Yorkshire An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a highways and infrastructure team in North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on commercial role supporting the delivery of highways projects, with responsibility for cost control, forecasting, procurement, change management and contract administration. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, operational teams, subcontractors and client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually in line with required governance and procedures. The main duties of the Quantity Surveyor include: ·Managing project cost forecasting, budgets, cash flow and cost/value reconciliation reporting. ·Preparing profitability forecasts and monitoring project financial performance. ·Managing applications for payment, interim valuations and final accounts. ·Preparing and evaluating compensation events and contractual claims. ·Identifying, recording, notifying and negotiating change in accordance with the contract. ·Supporting subcontractor procurement, tender analysis and supply-chain management. ·Administering contracts and subcontracts, including payment mechanisms and change procedures. ·Managing project risks and supporting the maintenance of change and risk registers. ·Providing commercial and contractual advice to Project Managers and wider project teams. ·Supporting the resolution of contractual issues, disputes and contentious matters. ·Reviewing programmes and assessing the commercial implications of delay and disruption. ·Monitoring the effective utilisation of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors. ·Ensuring commercial processes comply with company governance, procedures and legal requirements. The Quantity Surveyor will have key experience in: ·Previous Quantity Surveying experience within highways, civil engineering, infrastructure or a similar environment. ·Strong commercial management, cost control and forecasting experience. ·Managing applications for payment, valuations and final accounts. ·Preparation and assessment of compensation events and contractual change. ·Supply-chain procurement and subcontract management. ·Good working knowledge of NEC contracts, with knowledge of JCT also beneficial. ·Understanding Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates and Activity Schedules. ·Experience analysing tenders, subcontract quotations and project budgets. ·Strong knowledge of risk management and contractual correspondence. ·Understanding delay, disruption and entitlement to extensions of time. ·The ability to work closely with Project Managers, operational teams, contractors and client stakeholders. ·Previous highways or Local Authority infrastructure experience would be highly advantageous.
