My client is looking to appoint an experienced and driven Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of major civil engineering and infrastructure schemes across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager looking to take ownership of high‑profile projects valued at £5 million+ within a well‑established and expanding contractor.
As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in leading project teams, driving programme delivery and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Salary is dependent on experience, with a salary around £71,000 plus package and additional benefits. You will be working closely with operational, commercial and technical teams while leading major infrastructure schemes from pre‑construction through to successful completion.
What You Will Be Doing
- Managing the successful delivery of civil engineering projects valued at £5 million+
- Leading and managing teams of five or more staff across project operations
- Taking ownership of programme delivery, project performance and operational challenges
- Developing project programmes and supporting monthly programme updates
- Reviewing and approving weekly programmes produced by team members
- Producing Construction Phase Plans and Construction Environmental Management Plans independently
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely and in accordance with health, safety and environmental standards
- Promoting innovation and identifying opportunities to improve cost and programme efficiencies
- Supporting and mentoring Engineers and Site Agents to aid career development
- Managing technical issues independently and providing practical project solutions
- Ensuring effective management of project information including TQs and documentation
- Supporting monthly commercial reporting processes including CVR production with commercial teams
- Demonstrating understanding of NEC and JCT contract requirements and responsibilities
- Managing subcontractor relationships and communicating project requirements effectively
- Producing monthly management and board reporting packs independently
- Delivering project presentations to clients and stakeholders confidently
- Supporting project claims through accurate record keeping and reporting
- Driving quality standards across projects and ensuring defective works are closed out promptly
- Attending and contributing to HSEQ meetings and internal working groups
- Identifying and supporting the development of future managers within the business
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience managing major civil engineering or infrastructure projects valued at £5 million+
- Experience managing teams of five or more staff successfully
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as ICE or CIOB
- Leadership training or management development experience
- Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Good understanding of planning software and programme management
- Ability to lead project delivery while maintaining strong health, safety and environmental standards
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and understanding of CVR reporting processes
- Ability to mentor and develop junior team members effectively
- Proactive and solutions‑focused approach to project challenges
