Senior Mechanical Tooling Designer Contract – 12 months. Rate £45 per hour inside IR35. Location – Derby, 5x per week.

Are you an experienced Tooling or Mechanical Designer looking to work on cutting-edge defence engineering projects? This is an excellent opportunity for talented engineers to join a high-performing team delivering tooling, fixtures, and mechanical design solutions for major new-build programmes within a highly regulated engineering environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Designing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components.
  • Producing concept and detailed 3D CAD designs.
  • Solving complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
  • Modifying and improving designs to meet project requirements.
  • Supporting safety, reliability, and performance reviews.
  • Producing technical documentation and reports.
  • Managing design risks and project scope.

Key Skills

  • Experience in Tooling Design or Mechanical Design.
  • Background in defence, nuclear, aerospace, or heavy engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and materials.
  • Experience with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD systems.
  • Familiarity with Teamcentre or similar PLM systems.
  • Understanding of engineering standards and safety legislation.

This role requires UK Security Clearance!
