The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing commercial team. The role will involve pricing, cost control, and commercial management across a diverse range of civil engineering and specialist construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional looking to work on technically interesting projects within a well-established and respected organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tenders for civil engineering and specialist construction projects
- Carry out quantity take-offs and bill of quantities preparation
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Assist with commercial management of live projects, including valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts
- Support contract administration and change control processes
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and technical teams across multiple divisions
- Identify cost risks and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor and/or Estimator within civil engineering or construction
- Strong understanding of cost planning, tendering, and commercial management
- Experience working with NEC and/or JCT contracts (desirable)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Proficient in estimating and commercial software (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence (preferred due to nationwide projects)
