We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Traffic Orders & Traffic Management Officer. In this role, you will lead or support the drafting and processing of Traffic Management Orders (TMOs) and statutory notices under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. You will provide legal interpretation and advice regarding traffic management orders and traffic calming schemes, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and sustainable transport measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on, or assist with, drafting and processing TMOs and related statutory notices.
  • Advise on and interpret the legal framework and regulations governing traffic management orders and traffic calming.
  • Contribute to transport-related initiatives, including:
  • Traffic management and road safety programmes
  • Parking design and enforcement
  • Cycling infrastructure and innovative active-travel interventions
  • Sustainable transport strategies
  • School travel planning and smarter travel initiatives
  • Road safety education and awareness campaigns

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience drafting and processing traffic orders and statutory notices under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  • Strong understanding of traffic management, road safety, parking design, and sustainable transport / active-travel principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience or interest in cycling infrastructure, school travel planning, and travel demand management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legal considerations in traffic management and calming.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
