We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Technology Estimator/Cost Manager to support the delivery of technology-enabled transport and transport-related services across a range of major projects around London. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a strong background in cost management, estimating, or commercial management within transport, smart mobility, or technology-led infrastructure environments. This position is a full-time position that falls Inside IR35. You will be based in London at least 3 days per week.
This role is focused on the costing and commercial management of transport technology and systems rather than traditional civil engineering or signalling works. You will be involved in projects such as:
- Communications systems for London Underground and bus networks
- Road User Charging and tolling services
- Revenue collection and ticketing systems
- Control rooms, data systems, and digital transport infrastructure
- Transport communications, back-office platforms, and systems integration
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets for transport technology projects
- Supporting commercial and procurement strategies for technology-enabled transport schemes
- Working closely with technical, engineering, and delivery teams to understand project scope and requirements
- Reviewing and analysing supplier and contractor costs
- Assisting with cost reporting, risk analysis, and value management
- Supporting bid and tender processes where required
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Background in cost management, estimating, commercial management, or quantity surveying
- Experience working on transport, smart mobility, ITS, or technology-led infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of transport systems, communications, or digital transport solutions (preferred but not essential)
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
