The Opportunity: As a Principal Highway Engineer, you will lead the technical delivery of complex highways projects while supporting the development of the wider engineering team. You will oversee multiple projects, provide expert technical guidance and ensure designs meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Working closely with clients and internal teams, you will contribute to project strategy, mentor engineers and help deliver innovative solutions across a varied portfolio of highways and public realm schemes.
As a Principal Highway Engineer, you will:
- Lead the delivery of highways, streetscape and public realm projects from concept through to construction.
- Provide technical leadership and quality assurance across multiple design teams.
- Develop highway designs in accordance with DMRB, TfL Streetscape Guidance, LTN 1/20, LCDS, TSRGD and other relevant standards.
- Manage project programmes, resources and technical outputs.
- Oversee statutory undertaker coordination and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Identify innovative engineering solutions that deliver value for clients.
- Support the continued growth and technical excellence of the highways business.
Skills and Experience: You will ideally have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Extensive highways design experience within a consultancy environment.
- Excellent technical knowledge of highways design standards.
- Strong project leadership and coordination experience.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and project management skills.
