Role: Design Coordinator / Lead Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: St. Asaph (Flexible Office/Home Presence)

Rate: Up to GBP60 p/h – Outside IR35/LTD Company (DOE)

Duration: 12 Months+

The business we're working with is an award-winning and innovative contractor providing project solutions for the water and wastewater industry including design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance. The majority of the design packages to work through and sub contractors to manage are from an M&E bias.

As a Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Design Manager to coordinate the design outputs within a multi-discipline team across the Project or Projects assigned to you from resourcing, technical and timely prospective ensuring compliance with company procedures and Client specification.
  • Distributing packages of work to other team members and taking on client facing responsibilities alongside managing sub contractor progress.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and agreeing the clients project requirements.
  • Agreeing levels of resource against the programme.
  • Tracking and monitoring design outputs against design deliverables and project programme.
  • Tracking and monitoring design expenditure against cost allowance.
  • Producing monthly progress reports.
  • Reviewing and collating documents & drawings for both internal governance and client acceptance through the gateway processes.
  • Identification of requirements for design of temporary works.
  • Monitoring and tracking change control.
  • Site visits as required.

Requirements:

  • 10 years demonstrated Design Experience in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Compilation of Weekly / monthly reports as dictated by the project.
  • Monitoring of design outputs against the design deliverable schedule including remedial cause of action as required.
  • Confirming that all regularity standards are adhered to.
  • Chairing Design meetings.
  • Contributing to the production of the design cost for individual schemes.
  • Coordinating the design engineers across all disciplines.
  • Producing design briefs, incorporating the requirements of all the project needs, including Mechanical, Electrical and Civil interface.
  • Producing and reviewing sub-contractor enquiry documents to enable all design to be incorporated.
  • Ensuring all disciplines design are incorporated into the 3D model.
  • Reporting and gaining approval for change.

Experience/Qualifications Needed:

  • Experience of working in multidiscipline teams.
  • Experience of managing multiple small projects or single larger projects.
  • Industry applicable Engineering Degree.
  • Chartered Engineer preferred or working towards chartership.
