As part of their ongoing commitment to safety, they are looking for a dedicated SHEQ Advisor to join their Chesterfieldâbased team.
The Role and Responsibilities
As the SHEQ Advisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the company maintains a high standard of health, safety, and environmental performance across multiple sites. You will be working closely with various departments, providing essential advice and support to enhance health and safety protocols throughout the region. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Promoting a positive Health & Safety culture within the company by giving professional advice and arranging training, such as toolbox talks.
- Investigating and reporting all accidents and near misses.
- Providing a detailed monthly safety report to the Group SHEQ Advisor.
- Staying up to date with legislative changes and advising where necessary.
- Assisting with the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental objectives in the workplace.
- Conducting regular office and site safety & environmental inspections and submitting reports.
- Advising on risk assessments and proposed safe methods of work.
- Supporting in the assessment of subcontractor competency and their workforce.
- Assisting with safety audits and ensuring they are carried out annually.
- Promoting the internal Observation App and encouraging its use.
- Offering guidance and support to site management teams, motivating them to uphold safety standards.
Must Have Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of ISO 14001 & 45001 systems, and experience with internal audits.
- Inâdepth knowledge of CDM Regulations, the Health and Safety at Work Act, and associated legislation.
- Previous experience in a similar SHEQ role within the construction industry.
- NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals (or at least the National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety).
- Membership with IOSH (CertIOSH or CMIOSH).
- A valid CSCS WhiteâYellow / Black Card and a Full UK Driver's Licence.
- Strong recordâkeeping, reporting, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients.
