What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on a range of ground investigation projects, supporting the delivery of geotechnical and geoenvironmental services from initial site assessment through to interpretation and reporting. You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the specification, supervision and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigations.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects across a variety of sectors and locations throughout the UK.
  • Undertaking site-based activities including machine trial pit excavations and supervising borehole drilling operations.
  • Carrying out infiltration testing, ground gas monitoring and groundwater sampling.
  • Researching geological, hydrogeological, historical, topographical and environmental information relating to project sites.
  • Assisting with the interpretation of ground investigation data and preparation of technical reports.
  • Learning how to provide foundation recommendations and advice relating to ground conditions.
  • Supporting assessments of soil infiltration characteristics and ground-related risks.
  • Assisting with Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 contamination assessments.
  • Contributing to remediation verification and validation projects.
  • Working closely with senior engineers and gaining exposure to industry best practices and technical standards.

What You'll Need

To be considered for this Graduate Geotechnical Engineer position, you should ideally have:

  • A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A willingness to undertake site work and travel to project locations when required.
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
