We are looking for an experienced Legal Disrepair Surveyor to oversee a caseload of live disrepair claims, party wall awards, and repair diagnostics. You will play a key role in mitigating legal disrepair actions, providing expert advice, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out site inspections and investigations, diagnosing building failures using technical equipment.
- Prepare detailed repair specifications, estimates, feasibility studies, and reports.
- Act as an expert witness in court, providing technical evidence when required.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support the development of team policies and procedures.
- Oversee and monitor repair works on-site, ensuring quality standards, materials, and workmanship meet requirements.
- Take responsibility for party wall awards, including surveys and documentation.
- Manage budgets, prepare work programmes, and ensure contract compliance.
- Liaise closely with legal teams and internal repair services to avoid liability from legal disrepair claims.
- Ensure accurate records and reports are maintained for all casework.
What You Need:
- UK Resident
- HND/C or BSc in Building Studies (or extensive relevant experience)
- Strong knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and legal processes within a Local Authority setting for a minimum of 3 years
- Experience managing a technical caseload with strict deadlines
- Ability to write and prepare specifications for repairs and maintenance
- Experience in diagnosing building failures and using specialist equipment
